To recap, we’ve already talked about how you can make the most out of your water by watering your lawn the right way and that you should ensure that your sprinkler system is watering evenly and without runoff. Watering your lawn doesn’t have to be a huge drain on resources, there are many things that you can do to save more water while still caring for your lawn! The following is a list of tips from our lawn care experts in Vail, CO for saving more water:
- Utilize your lawn clippings – Lawn clippings are highly overlooked, in fact, many people just throw them out! Lawn clippings are actually quite valuable, as they contain many important nutrients and moisture that can be reabsorbed into your lawn. Lawn clippings also help to hold more moisture into your lawn, and when you utilize them, you will have to water less often.
- Cut your grass at the right height – If you cut your grass too short, it takes more nutrients and water to recover and become healthy once again. By cutting your grass at a longer height, not only will it recover much quicker and stay healthier, but longer grass also provides shade to the soil, which prevents it from drying out too quickly.
