In our last blog, we talked about a couple of things that you can do to save more water, while still enjoying a beautiful lawn. To recap, we talked about using your lawn clippings instead of throwing them away and how cutting your grass at a longer height helps the soil to retain more moisture. At Mesa Turf Masters, we pride ourselves in providing the very best lawn care service in Vail, and a part of that is helping you to enjoy the best results without wasting resources. That is why we have come up with these last couple of tips for saving more watering during the summertime:
- Don’t waste any water! – We waste water on so many different things! In most cases, you can use that water to water your lawn or your garden. For example, while you are waiting for water to be warm enough to shower or cold enough to drink, catch the water before it goes down the drain, and then use it to make your lawn beautiful!
- Water only when necessary – Keep a close eye on the weather. If rain is in the forecast, don’t water your lawn! You can also check your lawn to see if it needs to be watered. To do this, step on your grass and pick your foot up again, if your grass springs back up, it doesn’t need to be watered!
- Plant native grass and plant-life – Native grass and plants will already be adapted to the dryer conditions in Colorado, so they won’t require a lot of extra watering. For the most part, you can rely on the rain to keep these kinds of plants healthy!
